On Thursday 9th December the year 7’s and 8’s at St Martins in the fields performed a set of contemporary Christmas carols during their Winter Festival. The young performers humbly accepted rapturous applause from the audience after they enthusiastically rendered popular numbers such as “Away in a manger” and “Joy to the World” in a 21st Century Gospel style swagger.
Even though the weather conditions interrupted the rehearsals for this event, it did not prevent or hinder the performance in any way and the Choir is to be highly commended for their effort.

‘On Christmas morning millions of people across the world woke to the sounds of St Martin’s Elite choir singing the Christmas message. This year we were honoured to be in our home church of St Martin-in-the-Fields church in Trafalgar Square, taking part in the radio 4 Christmas service. It was a service that was to reach out to all ages across the world and from the comments we have already received, touched those of faith and those without faith.
Whilst we love to receive accolades for our fantastic performances, we know that as a choir this is our true calling, to minister and worship and we thank God for this chance to be true to ourselves.’ Denise Davis Deputy Head.
