Gospel Guitar/Bass Workshops: The expression of rhythm through Guitar/Bass. Pupils will learn the importance of time and melody, Rudiments patterns, time signatures and playing in a traditional Gospel band scenario.
Beginners | Intermediate | Advanced
Focus on:
A - Scales- root, third, fifths and sevenths
- Pupils will expand on the ‘Number system’.
- Pupils will learn how to support chord structure without using the root.
- Focus skill: Fingering
- Grouping.
B - Time Keeping
- Studying genres that exploit the use of dotted Crotchets, dotted Quavers,
Making scales fun- Soloing
- Pupils learn how to improvise over a selection of songs/grooves using the major and minor pentatonic scale.
C -
4 on the floor
Further development of:
- Grooving ‘locking rhythms with a drummer’ (rhythm section)
- Rhythm case studies: Latin and ‘The Shout’.
D -
Playing to tape
- Selected number of songs pupils will learn for the end of year concert.
- Pupils will play along to a backing track.
E - Scales in songs
- Using the vocabulary learnt in earlier terms pupils will apply scales while playing a song.
F - Rehearsal/Performance
- Rehearse songs ready to perform in end of year concert.
