The course comprises of Six 6 week lessons tailored for years 1 to 6. This will challenge pupils’ musical awareness from a compositional/performance perspective, dealing with listening skills, basic composition arrangement, vocal techniques and group performances.

 

Years 1-2 | Years 3-4 | Years 5-6

Focus on:

A - Voices in layers (ii)

• Develop harmonic awareness, singing in parts.
• Composing ideas.
• Relationship between drone, ostinato, and multi-part music.

B - Controlling your voice

• Sing songs with accuracy of pitch.
• Develop melodic awareness.
• Composing with the voice.

C - Composition: pitch and time (ii)

• Invisible graphic score.
• Notation.
• Meter and beats in a bar.

D - Composition: pitch and time (ii)

• Invisible graphic score.
• Notation.
• Meter and beats in a bar.

E - Scales/ Harmony (i)

• Composing using simple scales C major and A minor.

F - Performance Term

• A collection of Musical items Learnt through out the year*.
