The course comprises of Six 6 week lessons tailored for years 1 to 6. This will challenge pupils’ musical awareness from a compositional/performance perspective, dealing with listening skills, basic composition arrangement, vocal techniques and group performances.

Focus on:

A - Voices in layers (iii)

• Polyphonic texture.
• Ostinato, drone, unison, harmony.
• Singing in parts.
• Sub study: Instruments of the orchestra. (ii)

B - Exploring the voice

• Singing in parts.
• Breathing, dynamics and accuracy of pitch.
• Thinking voice.
• Sub study: Tempo.

C - Composition: pitch and time (iii). Time and Pitch lines

• Meter, bars, time signature.
• Sub study: Pitch .

D - Composition: pitch and time (iii). Time and Pitch lines

• Meter, bars, time signature.
• Sub Study: Structure.
• ABA Form.

E - Scales/ Harmony (iii)

• Major and minor scales.
• Key signature; Study of sharps and flats Chords and melodies further study of Composing a song.
• Sub Study: Dynamics.
