Gospel Choir Workshops: Singers will learn to develop harmonic awareness, singing in parts, recognising the potential for using their voice as a musical resource, and an understanding of vocal textures (acapella style) as well as a traditional Gospel ensemble.

 

 

A - Finding your way around

  • Setting up a mini MIDI studio.
  • Loading program. Creating a new file. Arrangement screen. Screen setting. Transport bar.
  • Creating a track.
  • Understanding the Time Line.
  • Using the functions in the Drop bar menus.
  • Tool bar.

B - Introduction to MIDI

  • MIDI instruments.
  • Audio instruments.

C - General MIDI-Track editing

  • Audio editing.
  • Cut, Copy and Paste.
  • Sample Editing.
  • The manipulation of a sample loop.

D - Matrix Edit

  • Editing samples in the Matrix edit.
  • System controllers.

E - Knobs, faders and switches

  • Virtual mixing desk.
  • Volume faders.
  • Panning.
  • EQ.
  • Plug-in Effects.
  • Automation.

F - Coursework: Arrangement of a song

To arrange a song with:
i) A drum pattern,
ii) Minimum of 2 sample loops.
iii) Bass groove created in the matrix edit.
iv) Pupils use 4 other instruments of choice.
